Fire Cider to The Rescue!
Updated: Aug 10, 2020
Strengthening the immune system is very important at this time and there are natural ways you can increase your immune potential. This recipe has a slight kick to it but well worth it to get the blood circulating. As I walk around the house with my chilled jar of fire cider in one hand, and a spoon in the other, I make sure that I and my 15 year old, gets a dose.
Ingredients
1 large onion, chopped
2 tbs ginger root, grated
1 bulb (whole head) of garlic, crushed and chopped
4 tbs horseradish, grated (I procured this from my local Shoprite)
2 tbs ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground cayenne
1 lemon, sliced and chopped
Raw, unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar, enough to cover ingredients in jar
1/4 cup raw, unfiltered honey
Directions
Place first six ingredients into a 32 ounce glass jar
Cover with the apple cider vinegar until the ingredients are submerged
Refrigerate and let the jar sit for 4 weeks
At the end of 4 weeks, strain ingredients from the vinegar into a large Pyrex measuring glass with a wide mouth-I used a fine, mesh-like stainless steel strainer and at the end I squeeze by applying slight pressure on top of ingredients in the strainer
Stir in the honey until it is dissolved
Pour the strained goodness into the same type of jar and place a plastic screw top on
The strained off ingredients will be pickled and can be used for stir fries.
I take 1 tsp/day as needed
